Activity Description

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to visit Fatima, one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world.

Highlights
- Visit the tombs of the ‘three children’
- Free time to attend Mass
- Marvel at the shrine and chapel that make up one of the most important sites in the Catholic faith

Discover the places where the Virgin supposedly appeared to three shepherd children in 1917 and the subsequent shrines and monuments in their honour. Visit the sanctuary where the tombs of the ‘three children’ are located and the pasture known as the Cova de Iria, where it is said that the Virgin told the children to build a chapel. Explore these sites and much more on this illuminating tour before heading back to Lisbon.

The first stop will be at the sanctuary where you can visit the tombs of Lucia de Jesus, Francisco Marto and Jacinta Marto, ‘the three children’ who claimed to have witnessed several apparitions of the Virgin in 1917. Explore this charming town in your free time and be sure to attend a Mass at the shrine. Take in the Monument to the immaculate heart of Jesus, the Lausperene Chapel and the Basilica and Monuments to the immaculate heart of Mary.

Then proceed to Aljustrel, the birthplace of Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia, making a stop at Valinhos where Our Lady of Fatima is said to have appeared for the fourth time in the same year. Fatima and its surroundings are undoubtedly one of the most important sites in the Catholic faith and this comprehensive tour is the perfect way to make your personal pilgrimage to the area.
