Spain, Madrid , C/ Julio Camba
Retreat to a serene rich-in-history city which is little over an hour away from the hustle and bustle of Madrid.
- See how the other half live as you stroll around the Royal Palace: La Granja
- Make your way along to the amazing Aqueduct and the awesome castle of Alcázar
- Stroll around the pretty city which doubles up as a World Heritage site
Escape the buzz of the capital on a day out spent in a much more rural spot: Segovia. Potter around the streets to get a real feel for how the city is and what goes on there on a day to day basis. As you roam around, it won’t be long before you realise why it got granted the status of being a UNESCO World Heritage site as you are spoilt for choice in terms of what you can set your eyes on.
Allow yourself to get acquainted with the city in a short space of time. Step inside the beautiful castle of Alcázar which has reinvented itself time and time again through the years. It has served as several settings such as a royal palace, a state prison, a military academy and is now functioning as a museum. Once you have made your way around the castle and its grounds, it’s on to the amazing Aqueduct which winds its way through the locals’ favourite: Azoguejo Square. The aqueduct is made up of over 20,000 stones and surprisingly stands without the aid of mortar or cement.
You shall get stunning views of Segovia Cathedral which was the last Gothic church built in Spain and San Martin’s church as you stroll around town. Meander around the grounds and gardens at the Royal Palace: La Granja. The palace dates back to the 1700’s and borrows its landscape style from England whilst showcasing Spanish Baroque and French Baroque styles in its overall design.
If you’ve opted to have lunch, you have the chance to taste some of the local cuisine. You'll get the chance to know your tour buddies a bit better as you'll all sit together on a large table as you fill up on lunch. However, if you haven’t picked to have lunch with us, you get some free time where you can go off on your own to have a little potter around the place on your own. You are sure to find out all about the architecture and history whilst you get a feel for the culture as you take in the ambience that surrounds you as you mosey around the undiscovered alleys.
