Full Day Petchaburi Palace description

Uncover the history of Phetchaburi, one of the oldest provinces in Thailand. Explore the stunning Summer Palace of King Rama IV on the top of hill and admire the numerous Buddha relics

- Visit King Mongkut’s hilltop summer palace and observatory
- Admire the numerous Buddha relics at the most intriguing locations
- Enjoy a delicious lunch and taste one of Phetchaburi´s famous custard desserts

Start the day with a visit to one of Thailand´s ancient royal cities, Phetchaburi, in the Provincial Capital of Phetchaburi. Admire the splendour of Wat Mahathat Worawihan, a royal temple believed to have been built in the early 14th century and one of the oldest and most famous Khmer temples in the area.

Surrounded by narrow streets and wooden buildings this gleaming white temple´s 40-metre central-prang towers over the district below. As you enter the shrine, you will be able to see delicate murals on the wall and statues of the sacred Buddha.

Later on, continue to Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park, where you will take a cable car ride up to the western peak to visit the beautiful Summer Palace of King Mongkut (Rama IV). Whilst there, explore the royal heritage in the Palace museum and absorb the unspoilt views from the observatory before stopping for a delicious lunch.

After you have replenished your batteries, you will travel to Tham Khao Luang (Khao Luang Cave) for final part of your tour. Descend the steps to discover a beautiful shrine brimming with over 180 statues of Buuha. This beautiful cave features fabulous stalactites hanging from the ceiling of the cave and a large hole, allowing natural light to penetrate the cave in the most spectacular way.

On the way back there will be a quick stop for dessert as no trip to the province should be without a taste of Khanom Mor Gang, a baked Thai custard, especially so, as Phetchaburi province is famous throughout Thailand for its mouth-watering Thai desserts.
