Close to You Foundation implements "Build Social Ground" 01/02/2018

Close to You Foundation starts an important European project - "Build Solid Ground," a project carried out by a consortium of 14 partners from 8 European countries, under the coordination of the Habitat for Humanity International in Slovakia and funded by the European Commission within DEAR (Development Education and Awareness Raising).

The project includes a series of activities to reduce poverty and promote access to decent housing and seeks to encourage the active involvement of European citizens in sustainable global development actions in line with the global millennium development goals. The project will have a 3-year implementation and Close to You will manage a budget of 355,000 euros, of which 75% will be used in campaigns for education, advocacy, and sustainable development awareness.

"The project follows an important topic, as housing issues will be the subject of the public agenda for 2018, from at least three perspectives: the need to increase the accessibility of social housing for vulnerable groups; the redefinition of the criteria for differentiation in access to social housing and the methodology of granting emergency aid for the payment of rent by persons in socially disadvantaged groups; the housing problems of women subjected to domestic violence, the functionality and accessibility of housing alternatives in such cases, " says Manuela Iftimoaei, Project Manager at Close to You Foundation.

The role of the Foundation within the project is to raise awareness among students about poverty reduction, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, the development of cities and their transformation into safely sustainable settlements.

Also, to bring the global objectives to the attention of the general we will organize flash mobs and photo exhibitions, personalize a bus station and distribute information materials among the population. Also within the project, our foundation will be involved in a wide advocacy campaign at local, national and European level, a campaign that will target the business sector, local and national authorities, the education sector (general schools, high schools and universities), as well as members of the Parliament and the media in order to make positive changes through the adoption of public policies in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by UN member states after the September 2015 Summit.
