Endless beaches, timeless ruins, welcoming people, oodles of elephants, rolling surf, cheap prices, fun trains, famous tea and flavourful food make Sri Lanka irresistible.

Sri Lanka overwhelms the senses. The air is heavy with the scent of jasmine, the food richly spiced and the landscape one of utter beauty. The radiant green rice paddies, forests of swaying palm trees and mountains puckered in tea plantations are utterly bewitching. But for many people Sri Lanka can be summed up in two simple words: the beach.

No matter what kind of beach bum you want to be, you’ll find a patch of palm-backed perfection here. You can book in for pampering at one of the island's chic boutique beachside hotels, dive across glowing coral reefs, learn to surf on gentle sandbars, or merely toddle off to find your own little undiscovered corner of paradise.

Passikudah is renowned because of its extended shallow coastline, making it a great spot for sunbathing and shallow swimming. The mesmerizing, azure waters are hard to resist and, along with the pristine, white-golden sand of the beach, create an incredible sight.

Discover the splendours of a Sri Lankan Shangri-la as you stroll into the turquoise-blue sea off one of the island’s most beautiful beaches in Pasikudah. The beach is famous for its shallow seafront framed by natural coral reefs, which enables you to walk for miles into the warm welcoming waters that come up only to knee level. This tops the list of things to do in Pasikuda Sri Lanka.

The beaches of Passikudah are largely untouched compared with other beaches around the island, making it the ideal spot to soak some rays and discover the vibrant marine life beneath the azure waves.

Indulge in some popular water sports such as scuba diving and snorkelling, and feast your eyes on an uncharted world of wonders lingering in the crystalline waters of Pasikudah Bay. Come nose-to-nose with species of multi-hued fish and intriguing crustaceans peppering the sun-dappled depths of the Indian Ocean.

Adrenaline junkies will enjoy the extreme water sports guaranteed to get the heart pumping via a thrilling round of wind surfing, waterskiing and kite boarding. In addition, you can try your hand at kite-flying, a popular local activity that is slowly forging a fandom among international visitors.

No matter what manner of beach life enthusiast you are, Pasikudah is a one-stop, heavenly shop of magical marine encounters, so come and experience them today!

So Much in So Little

Few places have as many Unesco World Heritage Sites (eight) packed into such a small area. Sri Lanka's 2000-plus years of culture can be discovered at ancient sites where legendary temples boast beautiful details even as they shelter in caves or perch on prominent peaks. More recent are evocative colonial fortresses, from Galle to Trincomalee.

Across the island, that thing that goes bump in the night might be an elephant heading to a favourite waterhole. Safari tours of Sri Lanka’s pleasantly relaxed national parks encounter leopards, water buffaloes, all manner of birds and a passel of primates.

The Undiscovered Country

You might say Sri Lanka has been hiding in plain sight. Countless scores of travellers have passed overhead on their way to someplace else, but years of uncertainty kept Sri Lanka off many itineraries.

But now Sri Lanka has found its place firmly on the itineraries of travellers. The country is moving forward quickly as more and more people discover its myriad charms. Lying between the more trodden parts of India and Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka's history, culture and natural beauty are undeniably alluring. It's the place you haven't been to yet, that you should.

Rainforests & Beaches

When you’re ready to escape the tropical climate of the coast and lowlands, head for the hills, with their temperate, achingly green charms. Verdant tea plantations and rainforested peaks beckon walkers, trekkers and those who just want to see them from a spectacular train ride.

And then there are the beaches. Dazzlingly white and often untrodden, they ring the island so that no matter where you go, you’ll be near a sandy gem. Should you beat the inevitable languor, you can surf and dive world-class sites without world-class crowds. And you're always just a short hop from something utterly new.

Go to Dehiwala Zoo. Located in the Colombo district. It will take nearly 8 - 10 hours to view all the animals, Aquarium, butterfly park, elephant Show, sea lion show and the snake farm.

Go to Galle Face Terrace. It is located next to Colombo center and next to the old parliament complex on the Galle road near to the sea. It is a place for locals to gather to spend their evening. At the end of the terrace is 150 years old Galle face hotel. In the morning it is a place for walking and jogging. (0.18Km). In the evening it is a place for to see the fantastic sun setting with different colors.

Whale and Dolphin Watching. Sri Lanka has become a major spot for watching Whales and Dolphins. Sri Lanka is situated within international whaling commission’s protected zone in Indian Ocean. West coast in locations from Alankuda beach in Kalpitiya, Mirissa or Dondra Point of down south, east coast of Trincomalee is the main ports of Whale and Dolphin watching in Sri Lanka.
