FareShare Sussex is part of the UK’s largest charity fighting hunger and food waste. When we saw the problem of UK hunger we found a solution. It’s simple really. We redistribute surplus food to charities that turn it into meals. We are a community. We get things done. We change lives. As a member of both the European Federation of Food Banks and The Global FoodBanking Network, we are part of a global movement working to alleviate hunger by capturing surplus food and delivering it to the people who need it. Fresh in date and good to eat surplus from the food industry, which would otherwise go to waste.
FareShare Sussex is an independent charity operating in Brighton, England. We currently support 126 charities with over 8691 beneficiaries, including homeless hostels, lunch clubs for older people, supported housing schemes and children’s centres.
By ensuring good food is not wasted we turn an environmental problem into a social solution. Last year we saved 1802 tonnes of CO2 through diverting food from landfill.
We are largely powered by a team of 100+ volunteers and offer accredited training and tailored support. This supports many of our volunteers from disadvantaged backgrounds looking to gain skills and experience during their time with FareShare to support their progression into further employment.
